Job Summary
The Sales Engineer will be responsible for developing sales and expanding market presence in Nigeria for ice cream machines and ice cream flavors. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, promoting equipment and consumables, managing the full sales cycle, and building long-term relationships with foodservice clients and distributors.
This position combines technical equipment sales with recurring flavor sales, contributing to sustainable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and sell ice cream machines (equipment) and ice cream flavors/mixes across the Nigerian market
- Identify and develop new customers including ice cream shops, cafés, restaurants, bakeries, distributors, and HoReCa clients
- Manage the full sales cycle: prospecting, product presentations, demonstrations, negotiations, and deal closure
- Conduct product demonstrations and explain machine features, operation, and benefits to customers
- Upsell ice cream flavors and consumables alongside machine sales
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat orders and long-term partnerships
- Follow up on quotations, contracts, deliveries, and after-sales support in coordination with internal teams
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs
- Achieve assigned sales targets and submit regular sales reports to management
- Act as the main local contact for customers in Nigeria
Profile of the Ideal Candidate
- Proven sales experience in ice cream machines, foodservice equipment, dairy/FMCG, or HoReCa-related products
- Strong understanding of equipment-based sales combined with consumables
- Comfortable explaining technical products in a clear and commercial way
- Target-driven, proactive, and results-oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build long-term client relationships
- Ability to work independently and manage a territory
- Willingness to travel frequently for client visits and demos
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Food Technology, or related field (preferred)
- 3–5 years of relevant sales experience, ideally in ice cream machines or foodservice equipment
- Knowledge of ice cream machine operation and basic technical concepts
- Familiarity with ice cream flavors, mixes, and consumables is a strong advantage
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM experience is a plus
- Fluency in English; local languages are an advantage
